Solar & wind powered home
Hard to imagine that anyone would... The power available would only be a few tens or watts at best. Not enough draft, not enough stack, not enough delta-T.
The other drawback is that building up the necessary 'pressure' means more hot air stays in the building...

You best bet is to build the home very efficient to being with. Then when you add solar and or wind it will take very little.
I'd buy super American solar panels from Everrgreen solar . They have the smallest amount of energy to make of an PV panels.

Then I'd use the best wind turbines made in the world for home scale use. They are from South West Wind in Flagstaff AZ

Buy them from a local renewable energy dealer , buy local, build to save the world. There are many books on the design and combination of this technology. I prefer a recent magazine that give real world example like Home Power magazine.
Also join your local ASES American Solar Energy Association. They have peole like me would live with this great resourse and learn everyday.

Hi Frank,
Books in this field are obsolete as soon as they are printed. Your best sources of info are going to be the various web sites.
http://www.solarbuzz.com/ is an impartial watchdog site for PV, they have some basic design tips too.
It's unfortunate to leverage on disaster, but look what happens when high value projects 'misbehave'...

I'd suggest you avoid this brand of wind turbine. But look for their site and see if they address this particular difficulty.
Good luck.

I am doing research on building a combination PV & wind turbine powered system to power a home for my senior design project for school. I also plan to build one for my home. Can anyone recommend any good books on the subject? Im looking for a detailed book, perhaps examples of actual built systems, procedures, spceifiactions, etc. Thanks in advance...
