Re: Disposable Menstrual Underwear

Actually, biodegradable means it will break down and not create tons of garbage in landfills which is precisely why I chose the materials I did for this product. Men have asked me to provide them for prostate problems and I may as well provide them for children in the process of being potty trained. Are the other products you listed biodegradable? I almost forgot, they are telling me that they are a must for stress incontinence as well. Another thing that makes mine unique is the fact that they are more discreet, comfortable and hold the moisture away from the body unlike the pads. They move with the movements of the body unlike pads which shift and create leaks.

Re: Disposable Menstrual Underwear

bernisava,

I know this is your product, so I really feel bad that I don't have very positve comments about it.

I am concerned with the "disposable" part. That really isn't "green". It is great that is is made with 100% organic cotton, but you throw it away -- it will create tons of unnessary trash. and because it is a whole pair of underware, not just a pad or a tampon, that make even more trash.

Also, throwing away natual sea sponge is never good idea -- reusing is so much better. I am not even certain taking natural sea sponge out of "nature" is a good idea. (I know many people do market this as a good thing for the environment) Does anyone know anything more about this?

I appreciate the concept, but I personally don't feel it is environmentally sound.

There are great re-usable products currently on the market, such as the Diva Cup (www.divacup.com), GladRags (www.gladrags.com) and Luna Pads (www.lunapads.com) . If you feel the need to throw away your products, there is also pads & tampons by Seventh Generation (www.seventhgeneration.com), NatraCare (www.natracare.com/products/feminine_products.htm) and Organic Essentials.

Thanks,

RVM

Re: Disposable Menstrual Underwear

right on, RVM... i stumbled across the diva cup, thanks to crunchychicken (http://crunchychicken.blogspot.com/), and all i can say... WOW! what a great idea! it's just as easy and far less wasteful than other "feminine products"... (yes, i know the guys out there are saying "eeewwwww..."... but it's a fact of life... and, frankly, the eww-factor is your own fault for reading this thread Eye-wink

i just dig the idea of never again handing over a bunch of moolah every month to an industry that creates such waste! point is, there are alternatives, and whatever one works for you is peachy in this gal's book...

thanks for bringing this up!
