Kristen Thomas

Kristen McCarthy Thomas is a public relations specialist with The Phelps Group, an integrated marketing communications company in Santa Monica, CA. She leads the company's Environmental Task Force, as well as its Sustainability Task Force, helping the organization and it 70-plus associates through the process of "greening up." As a reflection of these efforts, The Phelps Group was the recent Grand Prize winner of the Sustainable Quality Award, which is given by the City of Santa Monica.

Kristen attends conferences (such as Lifestyles of Health and
Sustainability) and seminars/meetings through USC and Pepperdine, as well as participates in sustainable organizations, including SEER (Sustainable Enterprise Executives Roundtable), in association with the USC School of Sustainable Cities).

On a local level, Kristen volunteers her time with the YMCA of Greater Long Beach, serving as a volunteer branch director for Camp Oakes (www.campoakes.org), located in California's San Bernardino mountains. In addition, Kristen is the author of a blog (www.just2hands.blogspot.com), which is the basis for a book she is currently writing.
