Home Electricity PowerCost Monitor
Our home has been fitted with a smart meter and soon we will be paying less for power used in off- peak hours and more for energy used during peak hours. We will also be charged more for power used more than a set quantity. But so what! 40% of our bill is not for energy used. It's for delivery, tax and debt reduction. I think it's an incentive program to promote alternate power production.
Friendly advice,
Applied common sense is free. The beastie costs $135 and when the power company confiscates the sending unit because they claim it interferes with the electric meter, then you'll be out of luck.
Apply the knowledge from the video clip. Appliances cost $$$ to operate. Use them wisely; you'll save money.

You can get a killowatt meter and read how much anything you plug into it (120v) uses. They are only about $30 bucks.
You could also read your utility metter and get a good idea how much you use , and when .
